More information about a static ip address

No matter if you just have one computer on your private home network or more than one, it will have an auto-assigned private IP which is given to it by the router. Those Private IP addresses can't be routed over the Internet because they are strictly for private use. The usual private IP address start and contain the same numbers which will be 192.168.*.* (* can be anything).

You can access your router's starting page through 192.168.0.1 which is a private address. Your home computers might then be anything from 192.168.0.2 to 192.168.0.254.
